I was wondering if anyone has any idea what the lace stitch in this sweater is called (looks pretty easy but I have no clue what its called)? A pattern for it would also be awesome!

Looks like fishtail lace to me - there is a repeat pattern listed on this site: http://craptina.typepad.com/my_weblog/knitting/index.html  If the link doesn't work, look at her post from the 25th of November 2005...  Even if you don't use that exact format, you can still use it to base how to do your version of the sweater hopefully!
