I embroidered these long gloves as a funny winter gift.

The Pistols are from  Sublime Stitching's "western" pattern set. I just added some little orange flowers to the sides of the design. I placed them on the forarms as if they were tats, and stitched 'BANG' into the knuckles.

Great idea!  I love that you added the flowers & put "Bang - Bang" on the fingers.  You don't see this pattern stitched up very often, but I'm glad to see yours!  Very cool indeed!   Smiley

Don't forget about the Sublime Stitching gallery/forum!  This project would rock it over there & I'm sure Ms. Jenny Hart would ADORE these!

Grin Absolutely FAB! What are the gloves made out of--is it that stretchy stuff, and if so, did you have to stabilize it somehow?? You really have talent!

Those look great!

Does the stitching around the knuckles bother your hands at all when you are wearing them?

Awwh shucks - thanks for the nice comments everyone!

Here a some answers to some of the inquiries:

Stitching on the knuckles is pretty easy. To get started, I just rolled the cuff of the glove down to poke the needle through the inside. Then, once I am on the working side, I keep one hand in the cuff of the glove to keep it steady. Then I just made each stitch go in-and-out with one stabbing motion - that way, you don't have to work on the 'bad' side ever. (Well, except to start each letter and tie it off).

The gloves are a pretty thick knit material. They are from Nine West and I found them at the Nordstrom Rack. (Although in hindsight, bright turquoise gloves are NOT the most wearable color. I would go with black or a neutral colored glove if i was going to do it again.)

Well I think that's it. I was thinking it would be cool to do 'daggers' gloves too...hmm.. Wink

Those are fabulous!

Who cares if they don't go with anything? I'd seriously buy a whole brand new outfit just to go with those gloves.

I love that! I would do a stupid video of myself, singing 'Bang, Bang', acting like some 50's starlet wearing that. Then again, no one ever pretended I was sane.

I really like that.  I also would have thought embroidering on the knuckles would prove difficult -I am astonishingly dependent on embroidery hoops and they don't make them that small- but your work looks absolutely great.

Shameless plug: have you looked at this post?  I think the gloves would make a really cool finished project sort of thing, with a note or two on how you did the difficult bits.  If you're interested, that is.  Smiley

Also, a birthday suit and gloves IS cool.  Besides, throw on some monochrome black, white, or brown or whatever and add a turquoise necklace and your gloves instantly match.

OH MY GOD! I collect vintage gloves and WOW I am so inspired. All of a sudden I'm thinking, "Sublime Stitching Pirate Gloves, Winter Wonderland Gloves, BANG BANG gloves, Sugar Skull Gloves, Flower Gloves ..." the list goes on and on and I bet this didn't take too long, either! KUDOS for something new and original!

The best part is that I once dated a guy that had his knuckles tattooed "HARD LUCK" (please don't ask - he wasn't a winner) but my friends still tease me about HARD LUCK. Now I can put it on gloves and we can laugh every time I make a fist!

Woo hoo!
You rock!

I hope you don't mind. i completely stole your idea and made my own bang-bang gloves with a pair of (burnt sienna?) gloves that my aunt gave me and I had no use for. I  mean, no non-crafting use for.

Between your post, and my insatiable love of both Sailor Jerry and Johnny Cash kitsch, I just had do make a pair. As soon as I can get my act together, I'll post the pics. Thanks for the inspiration!!

This is BY FAR the coolest use of sublime stitching patterns I have seen yet!  They kind of remind me of the lady that paints on the dish gloves, I absolutely love them.  I bet you get soooo many compliments on them, and you should, they're totally badass.  The colors you picked are fantastic, as well as the embroidery skillz.  I am thinking I will check out your other posts too  Cheesy  F'n awesome!
