so here's the back-story on this skirt.  i had a concert for school on saturday night and we have to dress in black and white for it.  i realized on thursday night that i didn't have anything to wear for it.  so, friday afternoon my mom drives me in rush hour to jo ann's fabrics which took about three hours total, and they had nothing helpful.  so saturday morning we went to the part of south street with all the fabric stores (in philly by the way) and i fall in love with this polka dot fabric.  we rush back home, and i finish the dress 45 minutes before i have to leave for the concert  Grin.  and so, here's the skirt (which needs to be ironed very very badly, it usually has more shape to it)

blurry picture:

twirling shot (i couldn't help myself - it's so much fun!):

mmmm I like it!  Especially with the black hem and waist line.
I tried to find black with white polka dots for my home coming dress at joannes, no such luck. As popular as polka dots are getting, they dont seem that readily availible. Sad

oohh, i know, i heart polka dots too, but it's so hard to find fabric.

try your local thrift stores. rip up old ladies shirts from the 80s. the 80s seemed to have a lot of polka dots on random things, but all done wrong...

Hey I live near Philly and go up to South and the surrounding area a lot in the spring and summer -so where are these fabric stores? I usually end up down around one end from Penn's Landing to around 5th or 6th street since my friend's dad owns a record shop on 5th and we go to visit sometimes. Is it up around 10th? Or at least in that direction?

Cute skirt by the way, the solid black hem looks really good.

It's cool, I didn't even know there were shops near South up there, I'll have to poke around at the other end next time I'm there.
