Wow... I come back and all these beautiful blocks!  I'm sorry people are having problems with this month's blocks.  I'll print off the star tonight and give it a try, and see if I can come up with any hints.

Chipmunk, welcome!  Your blocks are all so beautiful.  I love your fabrics - tone on tones are fabulous.

Fort loop, I hope things are going well with you - congratulations and good luck.  I'm impressed you're still sewing at all - I think I'd be going crazy!  Your new depression block is lovely!

First few tricks...

Printing - for those using Safari on the Mac Platform
- You need to change the scale.  Go to Page Setup, and change the scale to 89% for the star block or 83% for the birdhouse block before printing the pages.  Double check the 1" test squares.  These were the settings for my boyfriend's computer.

Keeping colours straight -
- I cut out all of my larger piecing blocks, laid them out on the floor, and then whipped out felt pens in colours that match the fabric I'm using.  I coloured a scribble in each area corresponding to the colour the fabric needed.  I know I'd get confused if I didn't.

That's as far as I've gotten.. I'll add anything else that comes up.

Fort_Loop - your square is beautiful, yellow and blue together is my favorite color combination. Good luck with the delivery, I too am amazed you are even trying to keep up!

Wow... I'm feeling what you folks were feeling when you gave up that star block.  It drove me crazy!  I worked through it but... me and paper piecing are not getting along.

The only helpful thing I found was wasting fabric by cutting the pieces huge and then trimming them down.  At least that way I actually got all the parts covered that were supposed to be covered.

crazy_bc_jen, I had to do the same thing.  I have a bunch of odd shaped pieces left now.....I'm hoping I can use them on another square later, rather than just tossing them.  Candace

Quick poll: How many people want a month of regular block piecing for June, and how many want an applique themed month?  If we don't do applique this month, we'll do it in a future month, but I was wondering if people wanted some back to normal piecing after the month of strange paper piecing.

(I should have my photos of strange paper piecing, as well as April's blocks, tomorrow)

I'll vote for normal piecing.  I just finished April and am going to attempt May.   Grin

Either regular or applique is fine by me.

I'm up for the challenge of applique but I guess majority rules in a democracy!
