and scroll down a little to see a bigger pic of that fabric

Oh I love it.  Wouldn't it look great as a tablecloth?

Here are my first april blocks.  (Sorry they're not ironed yet, I was too lazy to get out my ironing board)  I hope to get the other one done tomorrow.  Has anyone tried newspaper for the paper so we can get the 12 inch block?

Under the wire indeed Smiley  Don't worry, deadlines are very fluid in my world.  I love your colours.

May's Blocks

This month's theme is paper piecing!  We got a start last month, so this month we'll try two more (but these ones don't require really big sheets of paper).

Birdhouse Block
Spring is in the air, and gardens are blooming (at least in my corner of the world).  Inspired by the fine feathered friends out the window, this is a simple but effective paper-pieced block.  To make the "holes" in the birdhouses, Quilters Cache has suggested black circle applique or buttons.  Both are interesting possibilities - but perhaps we can find others?

Night and Day Block
A great play on contrast and colour, this one just looks like fun!  Done in lower-contrast fabrics, this could also be a pleasant simple star pattern.

Oh no, every month I've been able to pick just one square and make it but this month is going to be hard, because they are both great!  I might have to actually make both even though I really dislike paper piecing Grin

Aren't they awesome?  This is the only strictly paper-piecing month - I just want to cover lots of techniques in our survey of piecing.

Great choices for this months blocks. I really appreciate the variety, some of these I have never heard of before and it's a great way to try new techniques. I can't wait to get home and put these together.
