My thought on making the stem was to take a 1" piece of fabric and iron it in half, open it up, fold in the sides and iron those in, then fold it back in half again (like bias tape, just not on the bias).

Great minds think alike!  That's exactly what I did for my stem  Shocked

Hello everyone,

I know I'm really late in joining this craftalong but I figured I can catch up.  I hope you all don't mind???

This is my first block.  I'll probably start on my second one tomorrow.

Btw everyone has done a great job.  You all have made some very pretty blocks!

Thank you!   Grin

I guess these blocks are supposed to be 12.5" unfinished?  On Quilterscache it says the block is 12".  I know most blocks are 12.5" unfinished.  Anyway...  mine turned out to be a little over 12" so I just trimmed it down.  Oh well, I guess I'll just do that with all the rest and it will work out.  Hopefully!  lol

I, too, trimmed mine down to 12" and I think that's going to work out fine!

Beautiful work luvsquilts, my stitching never comes out that straight. I really need to get caught up on this craftalong, but it won't be happening this weekend. On of these days.....

It really depends on what size you want your squares to be.  They are supposed to be 12.5", so that when you join them with a 1/4" seam on each side, you end up with a 12" finished size block.  That's also why the triangles and such end 1/4" from the edge - so that everything comes to a neat point on the finished block.

Okay, I know I'm being impatient but, are we getting November squares soon?

Has anyone heard from crazy_bc_jen?  I hope all is well.  Maybe someone should pick up with Nov and Decembers blocks if we don't hear something soon?

According to her profile, she hasn't been on Craftster since November 4th.  I PM'd her last week offering to post patterns for November if she was too busy but I haven't heard anything.  Maybe I'll contact the moderator for this section and see what she says.
