Charliebrown, the job is going great.  I've just had my interm probationary review, and it went well.  The adjustment from student to the 9-5 (well, technically 8-4) has been slightly bumpy, but it's starting to get settled.  Now just to catch up on my cleaning so I can see my sewing machine again, and then I'm going to try to catch up.

I went to pick out my colors for this month's block and told myself NO PINK OR GREEN!!!!!!!!!  Then I found two colors I thought would go well together and came up with this (yes, that's lime green you see - I don't listen to myself very good):

I then decided to lay out all my squares to see what the quilt was going to look like - that's when I realized that I had been using rather muted colors and if I didn't use some bolder colors the rest of the year, August was going to stand out a lot  Grin

I started playing catch up with my quilt blocks today.  I've been busy planning my wedding next month, so I fell way behind, but I got a chance to sew today.  I had left off with the night and day block in May, and I remember now why I quit there.  I hate paper piecing!  So after I got 2 of the 4 pieces of the night and day block done I gave up on it because it was taking hours and I was wasting alot of fabric and used big squares to make up the rest of the block.

I found the wyoming valley block from June much easier to sew and much more enjoyable.  I just think sewing should be relaxing and fun and paper piecing was not that for me.

I hope to catch up with the rest of them before I fall too far behind the rest of you girls!  All your squares are coming out awesome!

here's my towers of camelot block for June i think.  i'm pretty sure i switched the middle block around, but i think it looks alright anyway.

only one more block and i'm all caught up!  (tho i'm a bit intimidated by applique)  Smiley

ETA:  oohhhh i switched the corners around and the middle.  oh well i guess that's what late night craftin' does to me  Tongue
