I love the fabrics you used qazicat - the colours are beautiful.  Such an interesting design for a pouch.  I hope your swap partner knows how fortunate she is.  I'll keep checking back in case you find the link to that Japanese website for the pattern.

Nice embroidery Cyndiq,  I got to get me one of those embroidery sewing machines.  I still thinking of how much use I will get out of it before I buy.  I already have 3 sewing machines.

I found the link everyone.

Unfortunately the instructions were in japanese,  but I just kind of followed the pictures and worked out things as I went.

Hint.
As well as fabric.  I used a thin batting in the pouch itself and cardboard in the base and sides of the pin cushion.  The pin cushion is glued to the base and the base just sits in the bottom of the pouch.

qazicat thanks for the link, will check it out.
If you dont want to spend much money, buy the janome 300e thats the one i got.
it is great and only about $1400 aus compared to over $6000 up to $10000 for the more complex machines.
it just embroiders so thats why its cheaper, but its great.
it doesn 5 by7 inch and 4 by 4 inch size stuff.
if you want bigger the new janome 11000 is fantastic and has a lot bigger sewing field, like 8 by 10 inch. i  notice you do a lot of small stuff so the 300e is probably great for that.

I also have a older model bernina i am willing to sell cheap second hand if anyone is prepared to pay for shipping and the price for the machine, i just dont have time to use 2. i was saving for my daughter but she isnt worried about sewing at the moment. It still has internet set up,  I bought a seperate card reader set up which i will sell too, it does 4 by 4 inch. and has lettering.
cheers cyndi.

qazicat, thanks for the pattern and the extra tips.

cyndiq, amazing embroidery and your model's really cute.  I don't think she wants to give up the pirate bag.

cyndiq, I think your daughter modelled the bag very well! Cheesy

Does a wallet count as a "bag"? Tongue I sewed one the other day, though some parts of the stitching just turned out awful. (Thick fabric does not go well with the sewing machine.)

I still like it and use it every day, though.  Wink

Added a tutorial.

hey nice wallet, did you get the pattern here by any luck?
try using a walking foot it makes sewing thicker fabrics a breeze, its what is used for quilting.
