I'm glad to see this is still going. I'm kinda new here & would love to join in.

Are you all using the long list of tutorials here on Crafster or other patterns?

I see a few really cute purses I would like to try, but I need the names.

dontlookback  what's the name of the purse with the dots, pasley, brown & black swils? Smiley

GirlyGirlBags are you using patterns, so many cute bags.  Grin

I only went back a few pages, you guys have me inspired.

Thanks, I'll do that. I went to the store and bought some fabric to go with what I already had. My nephew is here for a month, I'm making him a backpack and a blanket.
I am also going to make my daughter and curling iron/straightner cozy.
Will post pictures in a few days.  Smiley

Do most of you use heavy stabilizer when you make a purse?  I was thinking about that the other night when I could not sleep.

I can't wait to make a purse for myself.  But I need to make these 3 items first.  Grin

I've been using fusible fleece for interfacing lately, it's soft but gives the purse nice body.

I finished my nephews backpack today.

I used this tutorial.
http://www.sewforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=35194&highlight=backpack
I realized it's a lot like the small drawstring bags I've been making for years. So I made a bigger version of my bag and used her instructions to add the straps.  It's lined with the skull fabric and has a large pocket on the front.

If I got this right, the picture should be below.  Cheesy

It was really easy.

But I made a large version of a bag I already have been making for a few years now.  The bag I make is lined and the area that you put the strap in is turned outside instead of in.
The way you string the straps are the same except that I tied them off for the small (about 5x7ish) bags to make drawstrings.  I made the straps out of the fabric to match too. I also added a pocket on the front.

I would have never thought to make it bigger for a backpack though.  Wink   He loves it. He went with me to pick his fabric.
