They seem like they have so much potential, I just don't know what that is.... Any ideas?

You can use tins like that as cute gift boxes for jewellery. I like to put some tissue paper inside and then wrap the item in some different coloured tissue paper. You can embellish the tin or leave it as it is.

They're a great size to use as business card cases, also a great size to keep an emergency sewing kit in, and I know of at least one person who made a mini-shrine out of one (mini-incense sticks & burner in base, picture of Buddha decoupaged to inside of lid)

Altoid tins are great for holding sewing notions, or yarn needles for your knitting kit ... we nurse an addiction to altoids so have faced the same dilemma of hating to throw it away...

as grandma said - surely good for something!

another idea is as traveling medicine case (aspirin, bandaids, etc)

I read a cute idea on a dieting forum about a woman who kept a boullion cube, a tiny baggie of couscous and dried veggies in an Altiod tin, then when she was hungry but wanted to stay on program she had an instant soup kit in her purse at all times.

a mini craft kit! Smiley lol. just put little mini crafts supplies in it in case you get caught in a line or bored while you're out.   or a mini survival kit... bandaids. small cleaning packets. etc..
or a pocket shrine is always fun to make Smiley
