Okay, I'm knitting a little sweater for a baby, and I'm (as usual) going through some angst over decisions.

Pattern 1

(a)     (b)

Pattern 2

(a)     (b)

These are the two border patterns I've decided on, and the color combinations I picture them in.  I want to keep the continuity going by keeping the blues background and the pinks pattern, but I'm having a tough time deciding the gradient direction.  Right now, I guess I'm leaning towards 1a and 2b, but I'd love to hear your advice.

Because my web color picking eye sucks, the color accuracy here is pathetic - the true colors are more like this:

(that would be number 2b).

I like both of the b's best. I think they have a better balance of value. The a's would be kinda dark because they only have the lightest value on the center row.

I'd actually say 2b is the bestest but that could be because I actually am seeing it in yarn.

By the way you do beautiful work, I've been admiring your lacework and now the baby vest and this show you are just great at everything.

are you planning on using only one of the pictured motifs?  if so, i think that 1b is superior--the darks in the A selections are too overwhelming for a baby's outfit, and i am personally distracted by the additional dark blue stitches in rows 5 and 11 of 2b.

2b was my favorite, even before I scrolled down and saw it knitted. It seems softer and more well balanced then the rest.

Chuck Norris does not knit. He bangs the table, and the shockwaves force the yarn to create clothing.
