I sure hope this is legal.   Undecided     Cheesy

Anyway, I don't need to tell anyone how wonderfully beautiful Anthropologie's clothing is.  I also don't need to tell anyone how expensive it is.  I did a quick search here, and a lot of people have been using them for....um.... inspiration.  I was wondering if maybe people would like to do a sewalong and.........uhm.....  completely and blatantly rip-off a design with me?  No, that sounds bad.  How could you say that nicely?  Hmmmm...  I'm all for supporting a person's good idea, but I don't have the cash.  So yeah.

Anyway, I think this could be fun.  I don't want to really say one particular design.  I say, everyone pick one that they like and go for it... and post your results when you are done.

Anyone up for it?  The design that I have been eyeing for a while is the edwardian coat.http://www.anthropologie.com/jump.jsp?itemID=6769&itemType=PRODUCT&iMainCat=12&iSubCat=311&previous=1
Although that one will take a while.  I also MIGHT alter the sleeves somehow...  Make them shorter maybe?  Or I'll just do full length.

Ok, so there is my challenge.  Anyone want to join me?  Remember, it doesn't have to be that specific coat...  It can be any design.

ha ha I actually got this coat -- on sale, of course.  the sleeves are actually the only part of the coat that I don't like -  they are very tight and the fabric is thin so they don't keep me very warm.

Heh....  Well to me, I only have one coat that is for warmth, and it's my winter coat.  All others, including this one, is just a "duster."  Pure fashion.     Grin

Anyway, I lied.  I love that coat, but I want to make a dress.  I love about... oh.....  50 of them, so I need to narrow down my choices a bit.

As one who uses Anthopologie as inspiration all the time, I'm love to. I've done jewelery and bags but no clothing yet.   I'm (ahem) a little older than most of you here so I'll probably choose something  more  conservative.  Designers look to other designers for inspiration all the time. There are entire businesses that exist by replicating designer fashions  at mass market prices ,they call it "knocking off".  ::)Chances are Anthropologie is knocking off some other designers as well.

 Grin  Fair enough.

Alright, I picked the dress that I want to start on.  Consider it a warmup....

http://www.anthropologie.com/jump.jsp?itemID=8266&itemType=PRODUCT&iSubCat=1123&iMainCat=17

I'm probably going to change the neckling a tiny bit so that the shoulder straps come in more, so they can hide a bra strap easier.  But... All in all it seems like an easy dress, which is good because I know that I'm going to be busy very soon.  There were a bunch of harder ones that I would love to tackle, but right now I just have this need to get something done.

Anyone else joining in?  If so, what garment are you going for?  Or is there someone else that wishes to join me on this specific dress?

I would love to join in, but right now I don't have a working sewing machine..  Cry Maybe, once it's working, I can start out with a skirt or something simple, since I haven't tried much as far as clothing. Great idea though, and that dress looks beautiful!!

Oh... uhm... is there supposed to be a date?   Huh

I was just thinking that people just do it whenever...  Because this is going to be an ongoing thing for me, anyway!  And a lot of people like Anthropologie....  continuously.  So, whenever, I guess.

Hmm... I've never done a craftalong before, but I just might have to jump in on this one. I had already decided to make a version of this skirt: http://www.anthropologie.com/jump.jsp?itemID=6807&itemType=PRODUCT&iSubCat=294&iMainCat=14 (and I actually already have the fabric for it too!) I have a jeans project I need to make first because I'm in desperate need of pants, but after that's done I think I'm in.
