Those beads are great, but I just went to your website and your yarn work is absolutely amazing.  Every yarn matched it's name so well, and the colours were so beautiful.  It made me want to go spend my savings on hand-dyed yarn!

lynnidings - It really does take longer than you would expect! Your tree looks really nice though. I had the same ambitious idea but I stopped after the 2nd ball.

And rather enjoyed my time spinning! I have to make sure I get enough felting done beside all that spinning Wink

ruwena and astronogirl  - Thanks for the compliments! It always makes me happy when people do appreciate something crafted I spent so much time on. Thanks!

Teamwang and hello mango asked about the beads in the last photo
i love the swirls!! i wanna know how you did those as well.

They are great, I like the ones in the last picture...are they rolled up?  Very pretty.

GraceOblivious described in the discussions section how they are done:
My understanding is she begins to wet felt a large layered sheet, rolls it up on itself and wet felts it as a large log.  Then uses a speciality tool to slice the log- she had the cutting tool custom made to her design specifications.  Some felters do this on a much smaller scale, cut thickish chunks and sell them as pin cushions.  One could make it smaller and slice bead.  I'm betting that is how Caedara did the swirl beads.

She is right, that's how you do those beads. You have to felt the roll really hard though before you cut the beads. Otherwise they fall apart. I tried the freezer trick. It didn't really make cutting easier for me. So you may as well do it when the roll is completly dry.  Getting a straight edge is really hard. I like only half of the sliced beads that I cut of the roll. The rest just looks to uneven or fuzzy.

All of your work is lovely!

I am curious, what tool do you use to cut the swirls?

Wow, those are gorgeous! I just started making felt beads and I am still struggling to make them round instead of butt-shaped! I hope I reach your skill level eventually! Beautiful!
