there's a huge store in portland www.fabricdepot.com.  every other month they have all fabrics 40% off.
<< quickly scribbling notes to self >> THANKS!

Pacific Fabrics Outlet/Warehouse on 4th in SODO as mentioned above for cheaper things but it is a treasure hunt

and on my list to check out but I"ve never been to:
Designer Fabric Liquidations
Eastlake Neighborhood: 3204 Harvard Ave. E
(206) 721-7981
out-of-production and overstock fabrics

Thanks!  I checked the google maps for this and it looks like it's by that designer store on the corner of Eastlake and Harvard.  Now I have a reason to go to that store too!

Ah, how I miss the Pacific Fabrics that was only just 15 minutes away in Issaquah!

Now I live in Wenatchee - the black hole of good fabric stores... JoAnn's is here, but.........

Found a great Japanese fabric store that someone else was talking about!!!!  OMG!!!   So great if you like asian fabrics.  That's all it is.  It even has vintage kimono pieces that you can kind of see through the pack to know what you're getting ($15 - $25).  It's  www.shiboridragon.c om and @11124 Gravelly Lake Drive SW Lakewood, WA 98499.  They have all kinds of patterns, stencils and classes.  It's quite a drive for me so I can't go there as much as I'd like.  I only spent $12.00 today but could have spent $100.00 easily.  If you like the asian thing, do NOT go there unless you have money!!!  I got a yard of these really cool dragonflies but wanted SO much more.

Good Heavens!  JoAnn's is definately better over there than in Eastern WA, but it is certainly not the ONLY place.
I am kind of bitter over here in Wenatchee that JoAnn's really is my only option for non-quilting fabric stores.

This fabric store is so amazing!!! Fabrics from all over the world and you will find them on rolls place on tables where you make your choice and they cut right there. Lots of silk, wool, cotton and laces and stretch and a notion area you may only find in India. The prices are fanatstic!!! I have never seen anything over $15.00 and that was coating wool.

There is a really cute fabric store in Wallingford called Fabric Crush that has a lot of bright, mod-ish prints, Amy Butler sort of stuff and fun vintage remakes.  I went up there the other day to visit with a friend and found totally cute fabric for an apron that I have promised her.  And there is a cool looking yarn shop right next door.
