This is my dream prom dress but...I have no clue where to start. The dress itself doesn't look that difficult to make but the neck piece looks quite difficult. Can anyone suggest a similar pattern? Thank you in advance. Oh and sorry for the terrible picture quality.

the neck piece actually looks like it might be the easiest part - if i were you i'd just find some heavy fabric in a color close to the color you chose for the dress (or matching fabric if it's durable) and go to town decorating it with funky beads and baubles.

The dress itself looks like maybe a simple empire waist with extra fabric in the back for a train? i would sew maybe one layer of tulle into the waist and then right below your knees sew some more into the base tulle - as many layers as it takes to make it fluffy.

for some reason craftster wouldn't host my paint drawing, so you'll have to preten that those big letters are a connected piece of fabric. the tips of the 'Y' are going to have to have a button, tie, or velcro closure. it should be like a halter going around your neck. your probably going to want to atach this piece last, the ends on the '_' underscores are going to be sewn together somewhere in the back. you are probably going to need to fold a piece of fabric in half, and cut your piece of fabric so it will be symmetrical, and you will need under bust and neck measurement i believe.  i don't know that much about sewing, but i think this would work, no?
