Okay, this bag was given out yesterday so it's safe for me to post it here now.  I had a really hard time getting a few good photos of this fabric, so please pardon the blurry shots and awkward angles...

This is actually copper colored material with a gold floral print, but my flash just made everything day-glo.  Ugh.

Sorry about the blurry shot:

The bag is lined with a charcoal grey wool and I used carved wooden chopsticks for the handles.  The bag has a flat bottom so it sits up on its own.

Comments?  Suggestions?

wow, that's a beautiful bag
i really like the shape of it...and the chopsticks for handles
I probably would've used a more matching fabric for lining, but I dunno maybe the color just turned out different from the pictures, but yeah
Otherwise I really like it...it's gorgeous
great job!

Thanks guys!

vampirategurrl08: Hmmm, maybe you're right, but in person I think the two colors go together nicely.  I just wish I had a better shot of this bag.  The colors are SO off in these photos.

Thanks for the input!

Tres elegante! I would love to see this style in one of those chinese satin brocades with the oriental dragons, etc.  You have designed something that could be adapted in many ways.

Thanks!  I've recently been offered space in a boutique to sell my bags and this particular style will be redone several times for the shop.  I thought a lot about using different Asian inspired fabrics for this style of bag.  This particular fabric, however, suits the person who received this bag.  I can't wait to play around with other prints!

Thanks for the compliment!

I love it!  How did you attach the chopsticks?

Oh .. just too cute!  The only thing I'd wonder about is the durability of the chopsticks .. but I guess it would depend on the type, right?  Wonderful job.

Thanks, andreamarie and Ezrainiel!

I attached the chopsticks with embroidery thread and a needle.  I actually sewed these on three different times with regular thread before I realized that it wasn't strong enough.  Three strands of embroidery thread worked perfectly.

The chopsticks are actually quite durable.  Before I give away any of my bags, I load them up with tons of stuff just to make sure the handles are attached properly.  I put a whole lot of stuff in this bag and it held up just fine.  I wouldn't go all crazy and carry too much, but then again the bag isn't that big anyway.

Thanks for your comments and compliments!!!

So, so, so, so cool!  I  love that you used chopsticks for handles!  I just love the general shape of this bag, too.  Very cool! ^_^V
