Apron from a curtain

I imposed a "cannot buy stuff for projects unless I have a specific project in mind" rule a couple of months ago which has kept me from buying a lot of stuff except when I'm at Ben Franklin, for some reason.  In any case, I saw these curtains at the thrift store that were screaming to be made into aprons.  And, since there isn't much to making an apron, I probably had both done in a few hours. 

There were two curtains - one about the right size for a friend of mine and one a bit too big for me.  I cut some off mine (the long way) and turned the strips into the neck strap and ties on her apron.  For my strap and ties, I used some curtain trim from the fabric store, just to make them as ridiculous as possible.  The only other real change (from a curtain) was folding in and sewing the upper corners so it had more of an apron shape.

My friend immediately sent me email after she got hers in the mail about how much she loved it . . . so much goodness for $5!

Good job!  The thrift store is always good for odd and end curtains that can be used for other things.  Nice work.

That fabric would match my aunt's kitchen perfectly... wouldn't it be awesome to make relatives and friends aprons with the same fabrics as their tablecloths, curtains, etc.? Okay, maybe not, but it was just a thought.
