i'm in red deer.  i moved here about 6 years ago to go to rdc and have become planted here.  i agree on the hick part but there are pockets of goodness here.  having a hard time crafting with all the nice weather, though.

I used to work a lot with poly clay and wire but since my daughter showed up i'm not too eager to have a lot of toxic clay and sharp cutters around.  I've dabbled in nearly everything, except scrapbooking - I have a hard time with too much choice when i'm trying to create and there is hoards of scrapbooking materials out there.  I've just borrowed a sewing machine, an activity i've had previous unhappy experiences with (junior high home ec), but i'm enjoying it alot more now, reconing tee shirts and such.  at the the moment i'm just sewing up curtains and having a bit of a bobbin crisis.  i have to get my husband to help me - his grandma taught him how to sew and he's quite good at it.

I used to sell necklaces at the farmers market, more of a way to get rid of excess and an excuse to spend a whole lot of time and money on making them, but the market is flooded with necklace makers, and, sadly, people still generally want what they can find in the mall.

How about everyone else?

Hello!

This is my first post here.  My husband's from Red Deer, I'm from Calgary.  We're currently in Japan right now but will be moving back home in a couple months.

I love beading, hemp jewelry, origami....My current passion right now is amigurumi.  I also want to learn how to sew so I can make tote bags. Smiley

We're not sure if we'll move to Red Deer or Calgary, I think we'll be living in Red Deer at first for awhile.

Amigurumi is so fun! Once you start you just can't stop.  I taught myself how to crochet a couple months ago for the sole purpose of making amigurumi, lol.

Is anyone going to be a vendor at the farmers market this year?
Also, has anyone put their crafts into the 'house warmings' store downtown red deer?
