this is a pic of the roses my boyfriend gave me for our one-month anniversary monday...needless to say i love the pic regardless of the actual photo quality (which by the way was diminished a little in transferring it to the internet, the original has very sharp foreground).  i was wondering what other ppl think...i would like to get more into this whole photography thing but it's taking time

I think its a nice photograph ,  youve picked a interesting area to focus on which i personally think is alot nicer then just photgraphing the whole bunch.

It reminds me of a valentines card or a image that you would find on cards you get when people buy you flowers.

The only thing I would suggest is maybe trying to get as much natural light as possible  , you could move the vase closer to a window , or even take it outdoors , I know that photographs I take outside are much more vibrant.
