So my mom told me I had too many jackets and refused to buy me fabric. Well, I went to walmart and found houndstooth for 2 bucks a yard, and then picked up a rainbow heart lining and buttons. Around 10 hours later...

Yeah by the way I didn't realize the collar was popping up like that so just IGNORE  Grin
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v291/HumorMeDarling/sewingart/coat.jpg

I'm really proud because I did this all by myself this time, no help from ANYONE, and if my mother's pinking sheers weren't dull then it probably would have taken half the time to make [cutting numerous triangles in seam allowances is enough to drive anyone insane].

ps. this is the pattern [view A, modified tabs to be rounded] http://www.simplicity.com/assets/4403/4403.jpg

That is fantastic.  And 10 hours is quite fast for a coat!  I have the same pattern, but I never could come up with an interesting way to use it.  You did it!!

Love it! It's so cute! Especially the buttons... so adorable!

Just a question, I was going to make a coat with a round collar like that. But I was worried about how it would look with the top button(s) undone. On normal collared coats, it just fold back to look like the normal collar (if you know what I mean..??) But on this round collar, how does it look when it's like that? Normal still? Or does it only look good if all the buttons are done up?

Wow, you the pattern by yourself and everything... I am so amazed!! Hehe, my mom doesn't want me to make a new coat either.. but too bad for her!!
