I have some cute pictures I want to make ornaments out of.  I want them to be more substantial and lasting than say just cutting them out and laminating them.  Any ideas?  The one I have is to use plain tin cookie cutters to cut out part of the picture and use resin to fill in over the top of the pic, leaving the whole thing int he cookie cutter. But I have no idea how difficult it is to use resin.

resin is not that difficult, but it needs a warm (80-ish or more), dry, place to set, so it's not the ideal winter craft.  a couple of other ideas:
--decopage the pictures on plain ornament bulbs
--slip the photo in a clear bulb, and fill the space with tinsel, garland, fake snow, etc.
--using little paper mache books, glue the photos inside, maybe pocket-shrine-style.
--decorate little picture frames.
