I've just moved to Minnesota and I love all the Scandanavian culture here! I did spend a month in Finland in college but that's the extent of my connections. I can just picture my Dad's face if I'd ever suggested real candles anywhere near any type of tree : "You'll burn the house down! You'll put your eye out! Are we heating the neighborhood?" LOL Ok, maybe just the first one!  Wink  Sooooo pretty though..

Ohhh...I so miss Lucia. I'm swedish living abroad for the last 5 years. And I haven't celebrated Lucia for years...

So nice, with the singing and the buns and the cakes and stuff.

Yes the main problem with live candles are definetly getting the candle wax out of the hair. Most often you put a piece of cloth on the skull under the crown the "same" colour of the hair. But the the back of the hair get's all covered in the stuff when you walk. In my school in 9:th grade this our lucia that year had black hair and it looked like she had a massive dandruff issue for days afterwards...

Oh my, I remember this holiday! We used to celebrate it when I was a very little girl. Is it just a Swedish thing? Or all Scandinavians? I'm Danish.

Very cute dork glasses, by the way. You look so sweet.
