OK.  I crocheted some arm warmers for my brother's girlfriend for xmas, but I need to find some goth-inspired patches to put on it.  I thought that I might find something online, but when I googled "patches" or "appliques", I got all sorts of really straight-laced stuff.  Does anyone know where I could find some cool patches to add to the arm warmers?  I'm thinking skull-n-crossbones, but I'm pretty open to any non-traditional ideas....

If this is posted in the wrong area, please feel free to move it... I wasn't sure!  Thanks!  Smiley

Google again, this time on "goth patches" or "punk patches"--using the quotes. Looks like fun stuff out there.

But if you need it in time for Christmas--can you get to a skateboarder gear shop, or a smaller (not chain) record shop, or a place like Hot Topic?

Does Hot Topic actually have anything?  I work at night, so I was looking on their website and couldn't find anything like a patch last night.  But I probably didn't look in the right spot.  Maybe my husband can run to Hot Topic and find something at the actual store....

There *IS* a skateboard gear shop here in town.... maybe we'll try there too....

Thanks so much for the suggestions.  (In regards to the google search) just goes to show ya that my brain doesn't work very well on only 45 minutes of sleep when I'm working at night....

Thanks again!

OK.  Found a cool patch in Hot Topic tonight right before I had to come in to work.  Thanks so much for your help, josita! Smiley

Anyone looking for patches, don't forget you can have your own made, usually pretty cheap.  If you go to the local screenprint/embroidery/banner place and ask, they can make them quickly.  All it takes is picking from their designs and text and so forth, and custom make it your way.  I used to work at a place like that, and we made patches for all sorts of stuff, any shape, color, etc,  mostly for 3-5 dollars each, and next-day service.  Some got pretty wild.  If you want your OWN original artwork, however, it gets pricey quick, because they have to digitize it into their computer.

Josita - Merry Christmas to you too!  Smiley

ERPilly - Thank you so much for that information.  I had no idea that you could get them made unless you wanted at least 50 of them.  That's great information to know for future projects!  Once again, thanks!

If you crocheted her some arm warmers, couldn't you crochet some patches? Smiley That way, you could make them exactly as you want and not get charged an arm and a leg, which seems like what Hot Topic and other goth stores charge.
