i just finished off my christmas presents (phew!), and these two bags were the last things ... i've made several other bags before but these are the first ones i've photographed & posted.  they're for 2 girlfriends of mine, who are sisters.

corduroy with leaves:

and denim with snowlfakes (i got a bit carried away after making paper snowflakes with my housemates, and decided i could make fabric ones as well  Cheesy):

i didn't photograph the insides because there was nothing remarkable in there ... each bag is lined in cream cotton and has a small pocket inside closed with a button.

thanks for looking   Smiley

I love both bags, but the leaves are awesome. How did you make the leaves? Great gifts. I know they'll love them.

Super cute!  You cut those snow flakes out of fabric?  I am impressed.. I can't even cut them out of paper that nicely. ^^;

thanks   Smiley

i stitched the leaves by hand - i drew a design on the back of the fabric with white chalk and followed that.  i considered doing it on the sewing machine but it looked too fiddly!  and it didn't take too long doing it by hand.

cutting the snowflakes out of fabric wasn't that hard, although the thickness of the fabric makes them come out a bit uneven.  i wondered if using a more lightweight fabric might have been better, but then it might have just slipped around a lot ... anyway i'd just been messing around with them and they turned out better than i expected, so i decided they couldn't go to waste ... and lo and behold a bag was born  Cheesy

The snowflakes turned out beautiful, I can't tell they are uneven at all.  I think they would make cute xmas decorations too. Smiley

i glued them down first, then stitched just around the outside-most edges (with the sewing machine).  i'm not sure how durable they're going to be!  i think i will warn my friend not to knock the bag around too much!
