Widdly wah, widdly widdly widdly!
I knit this hat for my hubby.  About a month ago, we saw one you could buy online, and it was crappily made.  I knew I could rock it harder, and besides, he doesn't let me knit him anything so I had to make one!

I wrote my own pattern and duplicate stitched the face on from a chart I made.  And the main yarn is Lion Brand something in the perfect color!
So if anyone is interested in the pattern, say so and I will post it!
Meatwad gits the honeys, g.

Thanks for all the comments...and here's your pattern!

Finished size:  to fit a 23" head (it fits my hubby, but on me it's like a meatwad mask)
Yarn:  Lion Brand Chunky (i think)  in Spice and black and white yarn scraps in similar weight.
Needles:  US Sizes 9 and 11.  Can be worked in the round or flat.  I used US sz9 dpns for the ribbing, and then US 11 circs with the magic circle technique, but US sz11 dpns would have been best.
Notions: Stitch markers or waste yarn
Gauge: about 13 st x17r = 4"x4"

Cast on 72 stitches using sz 9 needles. Join if working in the round.  Work in K2, P2 ribbing for about one inch.  Change to larger needles.  Work in stockinette stitch for 5 1/2" to 6" depending on head size.  (note: I think I should have stoped at 5 1/2")
Decrease Rounds/Rows:
Round/Row 1:  Place marker at beg. of round.  *K2tog, k10, Pm*.  Repeat between ** 5 more times (or to the end of the row/round).
Round/Row 2 and all even rows: Knit (if working flat, purl)
R3: *slip marker, k2tog, k9* repeat 5x
R5: *slip marker, k2tog, k8* repeat 5x
Now 8 stitches remain in each repeat.
R7: * slip marker, k2tog, k2, k2tog, k2* repeat 5x
R9:*sm, k2tog, k1, k2tog, k1* repeat 5x
R11: *sm, k2tog, k2tog* repeat 5x
Cut yarn leaving long tail.  Thread through remaining stitches and pull tight.  Weave in ends and sew using mattress stitch if worked flat.

Okay, I'm having trouble trying to make the chart, since I drew it by hand.  I don't have Excel or Photoshop. So, I'll tell you how I did that.
First I went to this site http://www.tata-tatao.to/knit/matrix/e-index.html
It genterates real-size graph paper based on your gauge.  You just need to enter 2 numbers (it is very well explained and easy, believe me) and then you can print out the grid.
Next, I found a picture of meatwad that I wanted to use and opened it in a picture editing program.  I cropped the picture to only his face and adjusted the size to about 5x7.  I put it into black and white and played with the contrast a little, just so the lines were easier to see.  Then I taped the picture to the window and taped the grid on top and colored the squares in over the outlines of the eyes and mouth (the black parts of the hat) where they looked best.

To sew the face onto the hat, I started on the 3rd row up from the ribbing with the black yarn.  In the white areas, I ended up using a double strand of yarn to fully cover the base yarn.
Now, make your own Dewey, Vanessa, and Boxy Brown dolls and hava happy day!

Ooh, I would love a tutorial, if you wouldn't mind.  My brother is a huge Aqua Teen fan, and this would make a great last minute bonus Christmas gift.  How long did it take you to make?

Thanks guys!  This took me most of Sunday to make, probably about 6-8 hours.
Hope the charting works out, it doesn't take too long once you know what to do.
