I made these purses out of bandanas for the middle school girls I teach in my small group at church... I figured out that they only cost about $2 USD to make... and they are super easy! COnsequestly all the girls in my small group have "S" names thats why they all have S patched on them!

Thanks! I sorta stole the pattern fro the December Issue of ReadyMade only in that it was a messager bag from a blanket so I just down sized it...
They are really easy you just cut the bandana in half:
(please excuse our really hip linoleum)

And the you cut from that half a two inch strip, and then you cut the sides from the top and bottom of that strip... 6.5 inches each:

Then you pin the side pieces to the main piece:

then sew it up... I used 1/4 inch seams... if you want you can just hem the edges and sew a strap on... I sewed up another one in an opposite color and sew it on as a lining being careful to pin the strap in and sew it all right... if you do this you have to leave a spot unsewn so you can flip it...
well hope that helped...

Awww, I know they must have loved them.  Very cute bags.  I might borrow your idea if you don't mind for my girls.  Incidently, none of their names start with S.
