I found a large globe next to the dumpster the other day.  It's stand was broken (but I've already found a use for it), but now I'm stumped on what to do with the globe itself.  It's cardboard, and other than having two dents in one side, it's in perfect condition.  The only idea I've come up with so far is to cover it in travel/scenery prints and suspend it like a disco ball.  Any other wonderful ideas out there?

Break up a bunch of old CDs and cover it with those parts for a disco ball!

Readymade had this thing where they cut a globe in half and used it as a ceiling lamp shade.. it looked pretty nifty because the globe material was thin enough that the light came through well. It didnt look difficult.

I saw one time where there was a mini bar in a globe, but it had a stand.  Maybe cut it in half and turn it into a kind of table or line it and keep stuff in it.

Hmm, it doesn't look like the globe is hollow inside, because I was thinking that it would be an awesome bowl, etc.  The disco ball may just work though, and it would be fun for me and the boy, who loves dance and and party gear.  Thanks for the ideas so far!

Hmm, if there is a way, maybe hollow a bit out, and insert mini lights. Poke holes into major cities (or however you like), and then suspend from the ceiling.

Hubby has an old globe somewhere - I think I will see if I can find it and do that to it Smiley

Oh man.  I'll post back when I think  of some good non-cutting-the-globe-in-half ideas.  What fun!  I wish I had a globe...How big is it?  Is it really old, with the Soviet Union and stuff?  Maybe you could stick pins in it and use it to suspend jewelery and stuff to keep it from getting tangled?

Oooh, I like that suspension idea...I'll have to think more on that idea. Maybe I could use it for some of my art supplies!

You could saw a part of the top off and make it into a storage container for embroidery floss, sewing stuff, etc. Attach a knob to the lid and make an inside edge with cardboard so it won't slide off.
