all right ladies and gents, i gots the goods.  ok first step:

cut out a square of sweater fabric that should fit around the shoe.

ok, prep the shoe for sewing by cutting out the top (if that's applicable) so you can reach all the nooks and crannies of the shoe.

then, start to sew the square to the shoe, right above the sole.  make sure to sew the finished edge of the fabric, or the edge will be all scraggly.

when you've sewn all the way around the shoe, turn the fabric inside out and sew up the edge, creating a tube.

after that, guess how you want the top of the shoe to look and sew up along the pins.

cut off the excess

turn the fabric so that the right side is facing out and voila!  you have the sweater boot of your dreams!

here they are on my loverly legs.

this was the lady who kept you all waiting.  you can't blame me, hm?

ok, so if you have questions, just post and i'll be checking back.  oh!  and post your finished boots!  i wanna see how they turn out!  so, sorry for the wait and happy crafting.

they're awesome ....do they need to be orthopedic shoes? can you foresee any problems using different types of shoes?

nah, you should be able to use any shoe you desire.  just make sure that the leather/whatnot is soft enough to be pierced by a needle.  i picked othropedic shoes cause a) they're inherently comfortable, and b) it's kinda fun to make over an extremely ugly shoe.
