So I am getting behind... Im finshing up the swaps I am in and focusing on Xmas.  I saw a nice idea on another website.  I don't know which one to give proper credit but this family went to a thirft store and bought baskets and filled them with samplers of things they liked or discovered through-out the year.  The "poster" said it was nice cuz they got away with about 10.00 per basket and they went over.  Some things were teas and candies, pictures, pamplets from trips.. etc

I've made a lot of things, but I've given away almost all of it.  Undecided I have one bookthong left and I'm still holding on to one cross-stitch towel. I think I will making lots of little things. I do still have a bunch of magnets left from last year. hmmm Roll Eyes

As June approaches, I feel like I have more of a reason to start my holiday crafting, so... I've started knitting beaded wrist bands and other little stuffed animals for my younger cousins.

My main problem is finding out what everyone would want in time before Christmas, because that can actually be harder than crafting the gift itself!

It has been very quiet during June. How is everyone doing? I really enjoy reading this thread. I didnot find it until the end of May so I am behind. I have however, made 16 bookthongs for my giftcloset and have several more started.

I am hoping to get some stenciled/iron on gifts done next week. I ordered a set of "Cowboy Dogs" for my dad and hope to make something for him with them. I have an 18 gal. tub filled with Tee Shirts and Iron ons but am not sure I can get to them.

I have not officially joined this group because I am not sure I can keep up so I am just lurking.  Grin

Ha, ok, so it's July and I'm just joining in on the Christmas craft-making funness. This craftalong caught my eye as I made it a goal for myself to only give crafty things out this year. I started working on a scarf a month ago for my guy, and have a cross-stitch ornament almost finished (there's another colour I need for it, and I need to do the back-stitching).

I think I'm going to get stuff for a cross-stitch kit for my friend since she's always sighed at my projects and says how she wish she could do it. I just need to get the thread, aida cloth, and the ornament hanger for it. Then I think I'll make a little book up with the instructions and pattern Smiley A simple idea, but still I think it's awesome. I'll be working on my scarf too, since I have about 7 or 8 I'm making for gifts (and only one is a kid's scarf Sad I'll be busy!), so I really shouldn't leave all of them for September.

So I was looking through the list and some crafts don't apply to my family like the book thongs.. I wish I could say that they sit down a read a good book.. but alas, no.. and the craft along is great but my BF and I are the only ones that truly craft and we have done all of that swap thing with one another.  Does anybody else have this problem?

I also mentioned trading crafty goodness for crafty goodness...like  knitting  you a hat in exchange for.. 'cuz let's face it I'm not a crafty genius in all areas or don't want to invest the moo-la into it.  These would have to be personal swaps but someone could post I have book thongs in exchange for a knitted hat..

Also. I have a couple of links for those who may need a quick sewing project that is cheap to do.  The gators go over well with men (some spell it gaiter) and they take about 15 minutes to do.  The bedside thing is something I personally went aha over cuz I lose the remote all the time to the TV in the bedroom.  I threw in a couple of extra.  I really like the rolling towel.. when you have kids... and there are a couple of others.  Maybe these will motivate you!

I read about that idea in the Family Fun magazine, so it was probably on the website http://familyfun.go.com/ somewhere.

I like the idea too, simple gift yet very interesting. Same concept every year but ever changing. And it seemed like it went over really well.
