I'm making some for Christmas gifts this year!  These are so easy and so awesome.  My pink one from last January still looks great.

One problem:  the strands of yarn pull out.  I will need to rebraid my pink one.  Anyone else have this problem?  It's not a problem exactly, though, because all the loops and hanging strands makes the scarf even more colorful and eye-catching.

Deirdre
How are you finishing your braid? I have knotted all of mine with one big overhand knot at both ends, and so far they have not come out like you described, although none of mine are a year old!!!

I think she means the scarf on Anthropologie's website now (the blue and gold one), but Hellokitty, this thread was originally posted in December 2005, so obviously the site is going to have different merchandise up now.  Cheesy

Javastain:

I am doing the same kind of knot -- overhand.  A couple of my yarns are very stretchy and they pulled, not out of the knot but out of the braid.  Anyhow rebraiding was very easy.

I made, officially, five of these as Christmas presents.  I believe they were all well received.  A shout of delight in two cases, anyhow, and the third one would have shouted in delight if she wasn't already shouting in delight about the guitar I gave her.

These scarves are really wonderful.  I can make two from about $20 worth of yarn (without coupons!)  So they are inexpensive to make also.

This is wonderful! I looked through the entire thread! What a great way to get rid of some of my yarn stash, i.e. all of the acrylic crap that I bought when I was learning to knit. Yes, I've become a yarn snob!!!  Undecided

The acrylic, which is soooo bad to knit with, is GREAT in these scarves.  !
