Thanks!  I used a pretty heavy weight interfacing on the outer fabric (both the brocade and the silk) to give it a little structure.  I've since made another one ... a little smaller and the same brocade (but blue), that I gave as a secret santa gift last week.  The recipient, I am pleased to announce, loves it!

They are lined ... with the same black shantung silk.  I found it in a remnant bin at a big fabric place near Vancouver called Fabricana.  I'm not sure what I'm going to do when I use it all up.  Silk ... as I'm sure you all know ... is not cheap!
