I play in a community band, and this morning we played before and after the holiday parade (sitting in front of the firehouse before and the town hall after - we left the marching to the school kids) in the town that sponsors us. I knit this out of Moda DEA Cheerio - sparkley red for holiday cheer & it kept the headjoint of the flute warm, so I had fewer tuning issues.

What a creative idea!  I remember playing in band when I was in high school and how cold the instruments would get after being outside.  I don't think I could have managed the make a French Horn Warmer though!  haha

I like this project.  It's smart and cute.  Good job!

I wish I were feeling ambitious. Our auditorium is always cold, and I'm pretty sure the flutes would be the coolest section ever if I wanted to knit six of those for our holiday concert Monday. Too bad I'm lazy  Tongue

That really did make my day though. It's such a festive flute!

That's a really neat idea and it came out great. Any chance I could get you to whip me up a bassoon warmer?

That's so cute! I've always wanted to knit something for my clarinet, but alas, too many keys. I may have to knit something small to go over my barrel though...

Nice job!

!!!
I love how many band geeks are on craftster :-)
I, too, played flute in high school.
And of course, it was always cold and hard to play during marching band.
I remember my lips getting so numb I could hardly make a noise :-)
I wish I had thought of this.

that is an AWESOME idea!  i bet you are swamped with requests for all kinds of instrument warmers.

i played flute too!  and now i work in the music school at vanderbilt university, where i'm surrounded by people who think they are too good for marching band.  :/  dweebs.
