Hey everyone! Here's my entry.
I actually made it a little while before this challenge was announced, but it follows all the rules, so I guess I'm okay, right?
Anyway, it's made out of a spare lamp base and some PVC I had, along with some joints and bolts I bought. It was a prop for the show "Sideways Stores from the Wayside School", based on the children's books. I had to construct 5 instruments that have never really existed. They didn't have to play (the sound designer took care of that) but they had to look like they could!

This was my favorite of the 5....presenting my $10 hardware instrument, the Flurb:

That is great!  I dont know that story, but it remeinds me of a DR. suess design from 'How the Grinch stole Christmas'.  That was one of my favorite parts, the cool instruments and toys.

That's pretty fun.  I was in a team event in high school called Odyssey of the Mind and I know that one year one of the challenges was to make new instruments that made sound.  I think we saw one or two performances and it seemed like it would have been pretty fun.

Heheh I did that challenge for Odyssey of the Mind when I was in middle school (or at least a pretty similar challenge!)

Kind of Seuss-ish...really like it....Oh, the things one can do with PVC pipe!  Very nice work.  I'd loke to see your other fake instruments!

OMG I *loved* Wayside Stories!!  I am seriously having to stop myself from going on and on about it, but I really recommend the books to anyone, they're very silly but also great books for kids.  What a fun play and a fun project.
