So here is a shirt that I decided to draw.  Then I took it and screened it to a ton of black shirts.  If you know what a Merkin is you will love this shirt.........
http://www.partybots.org/shirts/merkin1.jpg

A Merkin is a female pubic wig that was used mostly around the black plague days.  Whores/Hookers would wear the when they had lice or other nasty little friends to cover up, that way their paying customers had no idea they were infected or under age.  Men would wear them too!  I believe you can still buy them for around $20 each......

Thats My Story.... hope you liked it.

The only "merkin" I know is the character "Merkin Muffley" from "Dr. Strangelove" -- he's President of the US!  Now that I know what a merkin is, the name seems even more humorous, heheh Smiley

Merkins were my favorite subject matter when making lude phone calls.  I would often pretend to be a merkin manufacturer, calling to inform a housewife that her husband had stopped payment on the check he sent us for his special order pubic wig, and really, we're going to sue if we don't see some reimbursement.

I am in love with your t shirt.

I looked at the blow up on the web site she linked to, the text says:
"Who says wigs aren't sexy?  100% human hair.  Hand-tied on lace foundation.  Available in Black only."

That's so deliciously nasty! I googled but couldn't find a pic of a merkin... I'd really like to see what a real one looks like. If someone could post a pic/link that would rock. How do they stay on? Glue?

I'm trying to figure out how they are put on too!  I believe it's with some sort of glue.  There is this V shaped transparent sheet of plastic or something.  I'm not quite sure the process.... but i'm sure the directions are really really funny.

Makes you love the idea of wigs a whole lot more!

that shirt is incredible.  i found out what a merkin was a few years ago and i feel that it's one of the best words, mainly because nobody knows what it is.  at my old high school, (just because it was our senior year and we felt like inducing chaos) we made 300 flyers that said "merkins of the world unite."  we anonymously passed them around the whole school, stuffed them in lockers, etc.  the administration went crazy, they thought it was a gang or racial slur.  then we even had the little freshman insulting people, i once heard a kid call someone else "merkin-ass."  i just walked by their little verbal argument with a simle on my face, knowing that they had no idea what a merkin was.

sorry, i know that was an incredibly long and unnecessary reply, but i just had to smile when i saw your post and felt that i should share my experience with the ever humorously reliable merkin.

you rock...and your merkin too.

this was too interesting/hilarious/bizarre. i had to do some extra research. this had some interesting tidbits.

http://www.straightdope.com/classics/a3_232.html

and the merkin legacy continues-im glad to know the merkin has practical modern applications today- serving to let strippers get around pesky no-full nudity clauses!
i liked the two merkin quotes from 1714 and 1680 too.

(BTW- im brand new here. have been alongtime member of getcrafty and thrilled to have found craftster)

Funny how times have changed, now everyone just shaves it all off.  Next time there's an uncomfortable silence in a conversation I'll know how to fill it.  thanks for the random factoid!

Other states the girls aren't supposed to show nipples (gasp! a nipple!!) the funniest part of this is that most of them just glue on fake rubber nipples over there own!  LOL

Now it's the name for a mop... that's what came to mind when I first saw your topic. I saw like "Why is she making a mop?"....

Here's a funny site.

playboy actually uses merkins because it's "raunchier" to be shaved.  they like the classic look, so if a model doesn't have any hair down there, they hafta wear a merkin.  my boyfriend and i ALWAYS make merkin jokes, and it was great seeing your shirt!!

I knew this shirt would bring happiness to all those who know what it is.  That's why I made it to and started selling it.  This was one of the first shirts I came up with along with the party-bots.... which if you have seen is just as funny.

Thanks,
Karl Addison

AHHHH!  We have been obsessed with merkins in my house ever since a friend saw me knitting with eyelash yarn and asked me if I was making one.
My roommate bought me a pin that says "PROUD TO A'MERKIN."
That shirt is awesome.
