I hate computers.  This is now my 4th try to post this.  After 2 times just doing it wrong, the third time was ready to go and my internet kicked me out!!!  Making me crazy.  So anyway, here is my entry.  It is made out of screens for a kitchen/bathroom tap.  I used gorilla glue and a glue gun, patina and a pin.  I am sorry I don't have a step by step, but it was very unorganized getting to the finished product (trial and error).  So, hopefully this post will be successful and you will be looking at images below.  Enjoy.

days later...

Ok, I had to add this.  This pin is a little freyed on the edges, and kind of sticks to sweaters, so I think it works much better as a hat pin.  I actually wore it on a sweater, but my coat kept sticking to it.  So, here's a little honesty, doesn't work so well as a brooch, better as a hat pin.
I added another picture below.

WOW!  how much did you spend?  I bought some of that stuff before to scrap book with, tomake pumpkins and I could only buy like a $25 roll of it, SO needless to say I split it with friends.  I think that is very nice looking.

Great idea, and it looks fantastic!  Looks like you bought the pre-cut little circles that fit inside the faucet, right?  I think those would be really cheap (in with the sink gaskets & o-rings & such.)

I didn't use the sheets you can get at craft stores.  I think this stuff is thinner, and it comes cut in different sizes for different faucets.  I spent maybe $2 on the screens.  They are just little round inserts that go into your faucet to regulate the water flow a bit.  The center one is shaped like a bulb, and flat on one side.  You can find them by nuts and bolts in smaller hardware stores, or boxed by the plumbing stuff in other stores.  They are about 25 cents a piece.

Wow, that pin is fabulous! I love that you made it out of a faucet screen!  How about the edges?  Are they sharp?

Unfortunately the edges are a little sharp, not stab your finger and bleed all over sharp though.  It's more like "attaches to sweater" sharp.  I have found the frayed edges catch on anything with fluff, including scarfs.  So, a cute t-shirt would be the appropriate accessory for this accessory.

I used a patina for it that I had already.  It's basically an acid that erodes the metal (then you seal it when you want it to stop, which I used a sealer that I use for painting).  I already had some sitting around from other metal projects, but you can get it in those sets for painting stuff, like wood, to make it look metal.  They sell the sets at most craft stores.

Ah, I'm glad you explained that because I was just going to ask what a patina was.  I think it looks lovely.  The mesh that I saw already had rubber washer-like things around it.  I had an interesting idea with it, but it wasn't going to pan out well.  I'm glad this worked for you.

That's gorgeous! I like your use of the patina too, makes it look so uniquely antique.
