"Giraffe" Change Purse!

Last night I started to experiment with new shapes and designs, and I came up with this giraffe change purse!




There is a small change compartment in the side, with a velcro closure!




Basically what I did was trace out the shape of the deer on a piece of paper, transfer that to 2 pieces of upholstry upholstrey fabric, leaving a seam allowance.
I then cut out some felt shapes for the features, and sewed them on one piece of the green fabric. Right sides together, sew the two greens together, leaving a hole along the side (it starts just where the white dots start, and ends about and inch and 1/2 from the bottom.

I also put a bit of filling around the head of the giraffe, to give some shape!

Then I took two small (just imagine where it would go in, inside the giraffe and measure. its about 3" by 4 1/2" without seam allowance) white pieces of broadcloth, interfaced them, hemmed the top and sewed velcro to each piece right at the hem. Then I sewed around the sides and the bottom, and hand stitched the change pocket in!

I'm envisioning many more of these for summer ... other animals, ice cream cones and cupcakes!!

Hello...
no, the actual change compartment is about 3x4 inches big, so it is basically about the size of the area with the white spots!!

Gorgeous work! This is so creative and crafty, it reminds me a little of some deer pouches I've seen at expensive boutiques selling for $100 or more. x.O I can't wait to see what other pouches you produce especially since I adore cupcakes.
