I had no idea you could sculpt erasers!  I thought people just had machines that made erasers...LOL!   Grin  Man, now I want to sculpt erasers.  You did a really good job on that, it is so cute!  I've tried to make cupcakes out of Fimo for earrings, and they are definately not that nice looking!  How did you do the wrapper so well?  That's where I always screw up.

I'm not macaulkv, but to make the bottom part, you could just roll your oval ball over a comb to put the flutings in it or you could make the impressions individually with the side of a pin or something like that.

my package of scupley clay came with two cool clay tools, a rolling pin and a shaper thing. i used the flat edge of the clay shaper to indent the lines of the cupcake wrapper. and most importantly, make the cupcake base narrower at the bottom and wider at the top. just like the bakery cups are in real life!

Sweet! I want to make some! Anyone know who sells the eraser sculpey? I have a Michaels and a Joann's, but I know Joann's doesn't have them. Anyone know if Michael's does?

Joann.com has it, but not sure about your local store.  Smiley  Joann.com also has a 50% off coupon code on their site today, so if you're in the free shipping club there it would be super cheap.

That's awesome!  I've been eyeing that eraser clay for a while now... I've seen it at my JoAnn's actually, it was 50% off right before Christmas, and I was sooo tempted to buy it (but I was already spending a buttload on things I "needed").  Have you tried erasing with it?  I'm wondering how well it works... Also, I'm afraid I'd get it confused with my normal fimo clay... does it feel different?

it doesn't feel any different than the usual sculpey (i haven't played with fimo) but i admit i haven't tried to erase with it. i've made two cute cupcakes so far and they're way too sweet to sacrifice! i'll hafta ask my swap partner that received the one pictured if she erased with it yet. from the company website, one is supposed to slightly under-bake the clay for maximum eraser-like crumbl-y results.

PenGwend, baked Eraser Clay will erase pencil marks (though "hard" lead may be more difficult?).

If you're interested, you can read more about Eraser Clay and some ways to use it on this page at my site:
http://www.glassattic.com/polymer/Characteristics.htm
(...click on Flexible Clays... then scroll down to Eraser Clays)

Btw, you would probably need to keep it separate from your other clays (although it can be mixed together with them if you want).  FimoClassic would be easy to tell apart from Eraser Clay though because Eraser Clay is soft (like Sculpey III) and FimoClassic is definitely firm (even FimoSoft is probably stiffer than Eraser Clay).  Shouldn't be hard to just keep the Eraser Clay in a separate container or baggie though.

Gee, I'd never seen any kind of polymer clay at Target before!  Where exactly in the store are they selling the eraser clay kits, and do they have any other polymer clay??
