Hello Halifax!
Yeah, that discount store under Crafts Canada (I think it's their 'unsellable' stuff store) is great for cheap finds.  If you're looking for some cheap interfacing (or flourescent pink and green ribbons!) it's where to look!
Too bad if you're new to town...  you probably missed the wicked moving sale at Fabricville this summer...
If you're car-less like me, the Salvation Army on Queen yields up some surprisingly great finds for such a small store.  And if you've snapped a needle and don't want to pay bus fare to get to the fabric store, the hobby shop by the Spring Garden Library also has some stuff.  No fabric though.  If you're into cross-stitch or needle work it's pretty well stocked.

Hi Hallie,

I don't know too much about candlemaking, but if it's beeswax you're after, you can buy it at the NSCAD student art store.  There are also people who sell chunks of it at the Brewery Market - in the basement, in the little room where the goat cheese people are.

Thaks, I will definitly check that out!

I order it online, but it costs so much to ship, almost half the price!

Good to see all craties here!

Thanks,

I've never had very much luck finding yarn at Value Village, although I did once get a bag full of odd-coloured vintage beehive baby yarn.

However, on my way to the Dartmouth VV today, I noticed that a yarn store is opening on Portland Street.  It's called "Tangled Skeins".  Hm.  Don't know if I'd pay for those, but it is a good development!

I'm in Halifax as well Smiley

Some random questions:
- does anyone know where I could buy a steel magnetic bulletin board in town?  I've tried walmart, staples, home depot, and kent.  I found a really nice Umbra one in Attica, but it was $$ ($40, I think).

Starlings, where on Portland is the new yarn shop?

Thanks!

Can't help you with the bulletin board, but I'll keep thinking.

The yarn store is near the taxi stand, at the corner near the value village.

Oh, great Smiley  I can stop by the next time I go to Value Village.  Love that store.
