I'm so glad this challenge came around because I've been wanting to use washers in my mosaics for a long time.  This challenge was the perfect kick in the butt to get me started!

I got the washers at a yard sale for $1, the frame at a thrift store for $1, and the dark purple stained glass (which I picked because it looks black) are scraps from a stained glass studio.  This amount of glass probably cost about $1-2.  I had the grout at home already, but I got it at Home Depot if you want to make one yourself.  Okay, so under $10.

Without further ado. the Washer Mosaic Frame:

and some detail:

I'm really happy with the way it turned out.

Great mosaic.  I have been dying to try out a mosaic project myself but not gutsy enough quite yet.  The washers give your frame a dressed up look.  Great job!

Not yet crafty enough to have a rawking sig.

It looks very modern.  I haven't tried mosaic yet.  I actually bought supplies for my sis last year.  Is it terribly messy?  I may have to wait until I have a porch (I live in an apartment... no yard!).

hi again!
thanks thanks thanks for all the new compliments!!!! i'm glad you guys like it.

irid3sc3nt, yep, the grouting part is pretty messy, i like to do it outside, but in winter i just lay down a bunch of brown paper bags to work over.

before the server meltdown, there was a request for a "before" picture.  Here it is while i was deciding how i was going to use the washers.  I used a lot less in the end, but, overall,I think it looks way better now!
