This is a fun project I made a few weeks ago.  It is a boa/scarf made entirely out of ribbons.

And for the action shot...

http://www.etchalon.com/elfgrrl/ribbonboa1.JPG

It was extremely simple to make, but time consuming.  It took 140 strips of ribbon, each 13" long.  Then you knot the first strip into a square knot, forming a circle with about 1.5" ends on either side.  Do this with a second strip, linking it to the first.  Repeat till you have 9 in a row.  For the second row, link the 1st strip through the 1st two circles on the bottom row.  Repeat with the next circles, but only link them to the circles below them, not to the ones beside them.  The 9th circle should NOT be attached to the bottom row, but rather to the 8th circle.  This will start the 3rd row.  The first circle of this row should go through both the 8th and 9th circle of the last one, and then only through the ones below, and continue the above instructions until all the strips are used up, 18 rows total.

The softer and gauzier your ribbon, the better, and the softer it will feel on your skin.  I did this on the carpet, and used pins to keep the rows clearly dilineated, it can get confusing.

I think the next one I do will be all one color, and I'll just get a shaded ribbon.  I'd like to do it in gray, or a bluish green.

That is so cool! the gold shimmery ribbon makes it look so neat and cool and I have run out of adjectives, but great job!

That is variation on your idea. I made two 40CM long  piece of boa using scrapes of different fabric and then I attached it to old knitted scarf.
