So I'm wondering if I hallucinated this, because I've searched a gazillion different ways and can't find it now.  Someone, somewhere in this little ol' craftster universe, made an iPod case out of an altered book.  They hollowed out little compartments for everything the iPod needs and it was really really cool.  I really want to make a couple of these for friends who have iPods, but I don't have one myself, so I don't really know what accoutrements the case should be able to fit.  And now I can't find the picture of the one I saw here to use as a reference.

Does anyone recall seeing this and know where I might find it?  Or maybe someone out there has an iPod and knows what kinds of things it should be able to carry?  I know the part about the pod itself and got the dimensions from apple.com.  And then the earbuds, which I guess should have a place to be curled up in the book as well as a way to come out the top or side of the book.  But what else?  Is there some kind of charger people usually take around with them?  Or anything else I might make room for?

I saw this project in ReadyMade... might you have seen it there? It was a few months ago... according to the ReadyMade site, Issue #18 (The "Big Kid" Issue... I think it had two people on a see-saw on the front).

Ah, yes... I just dug it up. Okay... they've got a cool little cut out along the side for your earplugs to go through (like, you can use the ipod inside of the book with the book closed), which is nice.

For compartments, they have spaces for:
- ipod
- headphones (when wrapped up)
- cable to hook up to your machine
- power adapter (not everyone has one of these. I just charge mine through my machine. Here's a picture of one on the apple website)

If I can uncover my scanner, I'll scan in a photo later... I couldn't find any pics online. Or, if you have this issue of ReadyMade, you're all set!

Good luck!

DOH!  I DO have that issue!  Thanks so much!!!!    This is not the first time that I've gotten craftster and readymade mixed up :/   I'm beginning to fear early onset dementia  Tongue

Off I go to slice up a perfectly good piece of literature....

I'm actually really curious about this, but I don't have ReadyMade. If you ended up making this, do you have pictures?

Well, my understanding friends are going to get their gifts in January this year.  But I have started two of them, which I hope to finish.  When (if) I do, I'll definitely send you pics!

I'm at work right now, so I can't scan the issue of ReadyMade, but I just googled to see if there's an image of this cool project online anywhere. Found one, although it's small... you get the idea:

What's cool about it is that there's a notch just above the ipod for the cord to go out. So you can close the book and listen to your ipod while it's inside. In the Readymade version, they also included a velcro closure, which is a nice feature.

Craft-matic -- how are yours coming along?
