Y'all seem the right audience for this....

I just happened upon the Wikipedia entry for "nerd."  It is hilarious.  You must check it out:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nerd

While I'm here, I should also thank geek-pride for a great idea that I totally stole this week.  I love the ribboned "Geek" you put on that cardigan for jan on ice, so this week I got a fluffy pink cardigan and embroidered "Nerd" on it with some grayish Target fun fur yarn.  I love it.

WOW.  Shocked  That's the first time I've inspired someone to imitate my crafts on Craftster. I feel like I should break out the champagne or something!
Glad you liked the idea! Just because we are geeks and nerds doesn't mean we can't dress like l-a-d-i-e-s!  Cheesy

And the Wikipedia article started off very... serious... but soon had me grinning from ear to ear!

I don't think it's the first time, geek-pride.  In one of the wishlist swaps, taloola asked for a sweater like that.  I now dub you Craftster's Alpha Geek!

I will have to find a way to incorporate "Alpha Geek" into my signature! Heh! At this rate I will be the first person in the world to get a fat head from being a geek!

jan_on_ice now you can tell people your cardi is a geek-pride original!  Cheesy That's hilarious! I think there will have to be another geek pride swap!

It seems to tickle most people's funny bones.

Aw! That was cool! Its a cool, rock version!

And as raindrops found out, it isn't easy to embroider on premade, knit clothing!
I had to use an embroidery hoop for mine and it was really fiddly stitching the ribbon down so that it would look like the word "geek". It was like writing in cursive script with ribbon and then stitching it down.

I've seen my dad do cursive in iron-work for a front gate. That's what gave me the idea!  Wink

I was far too afraid to attempt ribbon--I have no idea how you did that.  I wrote in cursive with a Sharpie, directly on my sweater, and then embroidered over it with $1 Target fun fur yarn from last fall.  The weave of the sweater was just loose enough to make it the easiest embroidery I did in a long time....  Anyway, mine's the good girl nerd to taloola's rocker geek.   Smiley

Maybe you need to put "Alpha Geek" on a sweater and be the leader of our pack!
