tissue paper does work best for sewing vinyl or other synthetic fabric like faux leather, etc. just place it underneath the fabric you are sewing so the machine can grip it easier and it will move along better too.

how much is iron-on vinyl? can i get it at jo-ann's, micheals etc?

I love it! I was just thinking how I culd put togethera purse like this. I have a picture of my new cat Kendall curled up in the sink! So I have a few copies of the picture.  I didn't understand how to resize the pic on the paper so we have 3 copies of her. But she's cute so it doesn't matter!!

this is soooo kewl. great gift idea and a wonderful use for my stash of magazines that has been piling up. I think I might even have some tubing hanging around somewhere too. I love it when you actually end up using something you've kept cause you "just might use it someday."

If you can find one, a teflon foot for your sewing machine will let you glide over tricky sticky fabrics, supposedly. I bought one at JoAnn's for $2.00. It was for the White brand sewing machines, but it fits the Brother that I got at WalMart.

Cute purses. I've been wanting to start using my sewing machine, this might just be a great excuse.

How sturdy are the purses?  Would it help it you put cardboard in between the pictures (at least on the bottom piece?)

Thanks!

I don't think you need to add cardboard -- the iron on vinyl is pretty strong and makes the bags fairly sturdy. Smiley

I want some too....umm if it's not to expensive anyway.

Did someone answer what a gromet is....I may have missed it? It's two metal rings that fit together. You cut a small hole in the fabric and place a ring through one side and the other one on the back and they get squeezed together to hold the fabric tight between the too.

hope that made sense  Smiley

elysium - The iron on vinyl can be found at just about any large fabric store. I've bought it at Joann's and Fabricland.

It's sold in the section where they have the interfacing and goes for around 5.99 a yard.
