I LOVE Simplicity 4668- I've made about 5 bags from this pattern already- I love its hugeness. I made this first bag from the ever popular Alexander Henry tattoo fabric (I got mine from reprodepot.com). One of my coworkers liked it so much she asked me to make her one:

This bag is for my boyfriend's sister. It's made out of corduroy, which I HATE HATE HATE working with. But its done, thats all that matters. I just never want to see it again....

And there is a vintage pin (eBay) coming in the mail that I thought would fit the bag perfectly

*Phew*. Sorry for all the pictures. I lined both bags with heavy black canvas, so I got to avoid interfacing! I would recommend it for all bag making.

These bags are both beautiful.  How do you like Simplicity's patterns compared to others?  I thought Amy Butler's patterns were a tiny bit tricky.  Are these easier?  Harder?

Sorry urvi, its a commercially available pattern- so I can't legally post a tutorial for it.

I just started using patterns again, after hastily making tons of bags without a pattern and being dissapointed with the results. The only Amy Butler pattern I have is the swing bag, and its reversible, so I did find it more complicated. I'm definitely liking the Simplicity pattern better. The Swing Bag requires a layer of canvas in between, so it makes everything harder to sew (WAY too thick), and i do find the instructions a little vague. I'd definitely prefer simplicity over amy butler. Too bad simplicity doesn't have the shape & size of the amy butler patterns. I LOVE big bags.
