Very nice scarf!  I, too, am a lapsed harpist.  Someday, I'll get back to it.  Or so I keep telling myself.   Tongue

Your scarf is lovely lovely lovely! I'm in the process of knitting a lace cap and I have a  lace-knitting question. When I see YO in a pattern, it is my understanding that this entails bringing the yarn forward AND knitting a stitch with the yarn in the front, not simply bringing the yarn forward. For example, if I saw YO, K3, I would bring the yarn forward, knit a stitch, and then knit three stitches in the usual way. Is this correct? Thank you!!!

In your example (yo, k3) you're only knitting the 3 stitches.

So you start with yarn in back.  Then wrap the yarn around the needle (between needles to front, then over right needle to back.  Then knit your 3 stitches.
