Embroidery needles, a hoop, really really fine-pointed embroidery scissors, fabric and floss.  That's about it to get started.  You can start accumulating other stuff as you get more into it, mostly things for making and transferring patterns.

The Sublime Stitching site you see linked here all the time has beginner's kits for sale that would get you started too...
