awtrlilee, i wish i could crochet too. Wink   I actually used the knit pattern for this hat (just click on the link and scroll down a bit).  I love the way this stitch pattern totally makes it looked like it's crocheted.

I love your version.  I made this too, but it came out a bit small.  I ripped it and added a few more stitch repeats, and now it works.
