Sorry, pineapplejeb. Hopefully your partner is just off enjoying the holidays and will be back soon. Feeling like you're being flaked on is no fun.  Sad

so glad all of you are having so much fun with your purses, not fair!! Wink

I know how you feel - Not only have I not received a bag to revamp, but no word about the bag I so painstakingly selected and mailed out.  But, I haven't given up - I hope to hear something from my partner soon.

Hey Maviss - I PM'd you yesterday regarding your DC# - I think I bungled up jotting it down. Can you resend?

pineapplejeb - your purse was delivered to your partner on 12/19. I haven't heard from her yet either. I had hoped she would send before going off on holiday.

If you received your before bag late we can work out something so you can have a couple extra days to revamp it.

Norsgoebel's cookies came to the office with me today.  My officemates have proclaimed me "lucky to be friends with a pastry chef!"    Cool  With their help, a cookie or two will stay off my thighs, though I have still eaten an embarrassing number of them...

After my maniacal attack on the purse last night, I have settled down and come up with a plan for finishing it.  There will be a little more scary happenings with the scissors tonight, and then I'll need to go to the fabric store on Friday, but then I can settle in with a needle and thread, and the not-scary part will take place.  Then a little sewing machine and/or E6000 action, and all will be right with the world again!!

I love this swap.

So the purse my swap partner sent me is this leather purse.  I know exactly what I'm going to do, but I wanted everyone's opinion on this:

On the bag are one of those metal labels that are attatched to the leather with the company name on it.  Any ideas on how to get it off?  I wasn't plannig on doing much sewing:  it's such a cool purse already I was going to just add to it.  But I thought that leaving it on there would look kind of dumb.

NORSGOEBEL, DON'T READ THIS, PLEASE - MINOR SPOILERS ABOUT HOW I'M CHANGING YOUR BAG...

I had this issue, but I'm doing extensive sewing and was removing the lining anyway.  I used a screwdriver to pry the tongs up and then slide the metal decoration out.  If you remove it, you'll have a smooshed/pitted spot on the fabric/leather to deal with - mine showed the little shape on the felt where the decoration was, so I had to alter my plan to deal with this.

Bottom line, you'll either need to be able to sew/glue the lining back in place, and you'll need to cover up the spot where the metal thingie used to be.  You might be better off leaving it there or gluing a decoration over it, if possible.

Good luck!
