Sometimes I get scared and the people around me get scared... It got me to thinking, what are scary things scared of... Scary things are scared of more scary things than themselves... monsters so fierce that they scare away fear.  So imagine my surprise when out of my felt box came these guys - they are pretty little (at about 30cms tall) and each one has a special ability to scare, so when you give them a squeeze they make your fear go away.  I make these guys for people when they need them.

This is Trousers; he scares away fear of public speaking... he helps you to imagine people in their underwear.  When you are standing in front of your class at school delivering a report or at an interview Trousers makes the evil Lost for Words, Freeze and Inappropriate Laughter monster vanish... a useful little guy.

Ever looked in the mirror and creeping around the side of the mirror and distorting your face is the Pizza Face monster, the I am Ugly monster and the Bad Hair monster.  Toby scares these guys away - he is bald, spotty and has one eye and he is still happy.

Sometimes I am scared of being alone, never finding my soulmate, getting old alone... my friend was being haunted by the Dying Alone Eaten by Alsatians (the dog not the Germans) monster.  Laurie is a guardian monster, she is a kind of monster angel who scares away loneliness and also keeps an eye on us.

And finally we have Brian...

Brian was scared, very scared.... he'd never been the popular kid at school, the other kids used to call him three eyes and he was just a bit too square to fit in... Brian was scared about the future, it looked grey. He was certain he would be an Exell monkey forever, that no female of the species would ever love him and he would certainly die alone eaten by corgis. Fear gripped Brian and he head was filled with what ifs and maybes, but he was too scared to take chances... too scared to cross the street without examining the traffick status, too cautious to not check the weather forecast before he left for work. However, this changed most unexpectedly one day when chemical tanker overturned and Brian, trying to dodge the impending doom walking straight into a molten puddle of hope.....

Brian can now scare away the No Hope monster... he is the top scarer of the No Future monster too... a useful guy.

Awww, thanks... Laurie is a cutey... I will post some more maybe... I have made loads.  Most of the ones I have made recently have had a similar mouth to Laurie, she can eat cookies... I know because my little sister (she is 24 with 2 children) fed it a cookie to see.  Cheesy

Your monster-scaring-monsters are fabulous!

I love the meaning and stories behind each one. They make them each that much more special.

Those are so fabulous!!! I looove Brian especially, but they all really make me smile. They're so appealling, since everyone knows what it is like to feel like that at some point.

Brian is my favourite too, he was made for a friend I care about alot when she was having a tough time.  He took the longest time to make as well... I am planning on making her a giant Brian out of polar fleece maybe - if I can find grey polar fleece so she can sleep with him.

You know what? You are a genius. I mean it. I love these, are you giving them as Christmas gifts? If so I'm envious of the recipients! The Y-fronts are hilarious... Grin
