I made the t-shirt and she loved, ill get the pics up soon.
You could make a lamp.  At almost any specialized scrapbooking store they sell transparencies or vellum in the design of film reels.  All you would have to do is buy the adhesive lamp shades and place the paper on top.  If you are feeling extra crafty, put some movie stills of thier favorite movies or pictures of freinds in the insides of the film.  Wha-lah.  Here is a 50's style vellum lamp I did that is along the same line.  You could also try and make some sort of projector.  Good Luck!
